Clifford Tong is the Founder and Principal Consultant for DSI. He has been an active angel investor for more than 15 years and is a member of the Keiretsu Forum, Berkeley Angel Network, and Angel Forum.
Mr. Tong has over 15 years of consulting experience with organizations in both the public and private sectors in the areas of strategic planning, business process re-engineering, marketing, management, and information technology. He has acted as a founder, co-founder, or Angel investor on numerous startup companies, and his broad understanding of business strategy, operations, and technology are the cornerstone of DSI’s mission and philosophy. He is a co-founder of Internet startups Ethnicmajority.com, LafayetteCentral.com and BurtonValley.com.
In addition to his consulting expertise, Mr. Tong is an acknowledged authority on small business issues. He has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the State of California Small Business Council, Caltrans Business Council, California Department of General Services Advisory Panel, Small Business California, and California Small Business Association, and has frequently been called to testify before the state legislature on issues that affect the business climate. He was also elected as a delegate and committee chair for the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business.
Prior to founding DSI in 1990, Mr. Tong worked for IBM for seven years in a variety of marketing and technical positions, and was primarily responsible for the design and marketing of large mainframe systems to IBM’s biggest customers on the West Coast. He holds B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
